Today there is an expression that flies in my mind, it is the idea of the existence of what I can call spaces of liberty. In my mind is clear that in my country these spaces have been closing in the last years__or may be I would have to say that they have been closed. The law on assisted fecundation that turned down hopes of many infertile couples, the electoral law that transformed the election day in a mockery, the methodical destruction of the system of justice by a corrupted political caste, the doomed economical decline caused by an inefficient bureaucracy, a system of medieval guilds and a pervasive culture of illegality and organized crime.

My idea is that the decline of a country is caused by the progressive shutting of the various spaces of liberty. I claim that even the common sense idea that judges must judge and condemn criminals, even if they are powerful political or economical representatives, is about what I called spaces of liberty.

However my idea goes a little more forward and I state that if more spaces of liberty you close, more the economy of the country will fall down.

Let’s look at the USA. After the 9/11 president Bush started to close many spaces of liberty, for assuring security__ he said. After some years the effects are coming out and the economy is falling.

I have already talked about Italy, anyway let’s look at China, there the opening of new spaces of liberty is bringing more economical growth. Of course if you measure the per capita income, you would see that Chinese are still much poorer than Europeans or Americans, and I say that this is because they are still less free…

Well, this theory maybe it is against economical evidences, I do not know, I am not an economist… it is just one of my weird theories.
